Schools Provision
motive8 provides a comprehensive portfolio of in-school and after-school sports programmes run by a team of fully-qualified, CRB police-checked trainers. Whether your school wants to run one club a week or five, motive8 can offer a wide range of sports activities from football and netball to international sports and dance.
motive8 sports programmes are currently being implemented across a number of London primary and secondary schools. Each school is designated its own sports coordinator, who works alongside teachers to develop a rolling sports programme which fits their school’s precise requirements.
Curricular
We provide curricular PE lessons in a variety of schools to both cover PPA time and to ensure children receive an active and fun learning experience. Our session plans are designed to meet National Curriculum guidelines and are taught by experienced and motivating coaches.
Extra-curricular
We run a variety of extra-curricular clubs in schools which can be run as breakfast, lunch or after-school clubs. We cover all sports from high-5 netball and football to tag rugby and gymnastics. Our coaches make these sessions fun for children, encouraging them to take part to develop their sporting skills and, if desired, working towards competing in borough tournaments.
Sports Leaders UK Young Leaders Award
This certified Sports Leaders UK-accredited award helps young people aged 9 – 13 years gain leadership skills and qualities. By working through a motive8 workbook, each child is encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and those they are leading, helping to develop key skills such as communication, organisation and motivation.
It also offers the opportunity for older children to work with younger children, thus promoting integration and social inclusion which subsequently reduces problems associated with bullying and unsuitable behaviour.
Sports Leader UK Young Leaders Award can be used as a basis for the delivery of National Curriculum Key Stages 2 & 3 across a range of subject areas. Links can clearly be seen between the award and English, PE, Citizenship and PSHE NC programmes of study.
Sports Leaders UK Level 1 Award in Leadership
Again accredited by Sports Leader UK, this certified nationally-recognised qualification offers young adults aged 14 and over the opportunity to acquire leadership skills that enable them to assist coaches and help out at primary schools.
Active Involvement
This is created for pupils who find numeracy a challenge and encourages them to be active. Children work through an 'Active Involvement' pack over a 6 week period, either at home, during lessons or at lunchtime. Children identified in this category are asked to attend a 1-hour workshop with their parents/guardians at the beginning of the course.
The pack includes a variety of learning cards and equipment that are designed to improve numeracy through fun activities. For example, a simple skittle game that teaches the times table. Cards can also be developed for different numeracy levels as well as for EAL and SEN pupils.
The course aims to maintain these children within National Curriculum Key Stage 2 attainment levels and, at the end of the course, the children and their parents/guardians are asked to attend a further workshop in order to demonstrate their progress and receive further encouragement.
Visually Impaired Activity Day
Offered to all pupils in Year’s 4, 5 and 6, this inclusive programme explores how children can play games when their sight is taken away and highlights how this affects their spatial awareness and communication skills.
The importance of good communication is emphasized using a game called Goalball. Originally invented for war veterans who had lost their sight, it became a sport in its own right, with everyone playing blindfolded allowing both visually impaired and sighted people to play on equal terms at the same time.
We aim to deliver the course in 1 day - approx 2 hours for each year group. Each child will be given an information sheet covering all aspects of the course, helping them understand the learning objectives of the session.
Active Enrichment Workshops
This course comprises a variety of workshops that are cross-curricular, allowing children to be active while learning about nutrition, healthy lifestyles and their bodies. We offer a range of workshops, which schools can pick and choose from (often forming part of their Enrichment or Science Weeks) – these include skeleton, fitness testing and using heart rate monitors and pedometers. As an example, the pedometer challenge lasts over a week and promotes physical activity while carrying out numeracy, PE and ICT tasks to a booklet.
Sports Days
motive8 can provide varying levels of sports day involvement from giving advice and assisting on the day to organising the entire event from start to finish. Whist we aim to ensure that all children are active and having fun, we also endeavour to introduce an element of competiveness.
